Made in homage to Lewis Hamilton, for winning his seventh Formula 1 world title, the work entitled “The Flying Black Angel” brings a lot of ancestriy, through elements of candomblé, associated with the skills of the pilot. The wings represent your ability to "fly" in the races and capacity to overcome challenges with mastery. In addition, it highlights the fact that he is the first black driver in the history of the competition and collects the breaking of several records -that is a very significant fact for Mr. Dko and this extends to the entire black community, especially in the diaspora. In this work, Mr. Dko puts into practice the research he has been developing about colors and also includes African cultural elements such as the gourd and the symbolism of the white, which is associated with Oxalá, because, in his point of view, they are energies that approach him.
The work also carries the burden of a high sentimental value for all the implicit racial issues - and that is also on the agenda for Hamilton, both on and off the racing - adding the social responsibility of echoing the voice of brothers and sisters who are forefront in Fight for Racial Equality. “The Flying Black Angel” is intended to portray the obstinacy and resistance of the pilot and all-black community, which remains resistant to racism and its ills.
